Ulland Brothers, Inc. Scholarship

In an effort to foster higher education, the board of directors set up the Ulland Brothers, Inc. scholarship fund. The purpose of the scholarship fund is to provide financial assistance to the children of the employees of Ulland Brothers who are attending institutions of higher education. Scholarships may be used for public or private post-secondary education including colleges, universities, community and technical colleges. Recipients are encouraged to investigate a career in the construction industry. However, they are free to major in whatever field of study they choose. One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded each year and can be renewed up to three times for a total of $4,000 in tuition assistance.

Peter M. Gargano Scholarship Fund

In memory of Pete Gargano, Ulland Brothers, Inc. is funding the Peter M. Gargano Scholarship, first established by his wife. Pete Gargano came to work with Ulland Brothers, Inc. on May 14, 1969, supervising the construction of St. Louis County #7 at Forbes, the Range Expressway near Chisholm, Highway 73 near Kinmount as well as many other projects. He was always interested in helping people develop their skills and worked hard at offering a chance for people to learn. All valued Pete’s advice and council as a Director and Vice President. Pete enjoyed life and contributed much to the continued enjoyment for others right up to his untimely death, November 16, 1983.

Peter M. Gargano

The purpose of the Peter M. Gargano Scholarship Fund is to provide financial assistance to the children of the employees of Ulland Brothers for post-secondary education; including colleges, universities and vocational schools. The student’s financial need is of prime concern to the Scholarship Committee, along with the student’s school record. One scholarship of $2,000 will be awarded each year. The scholarship is open to high school seniors and all college students, including graduate students. Applicants from previous years are encouraged to apply again for this award.”

Associated General Contractors of Minnesota Awards Scholarships

The AGC of Minnesota provides scholarship opportunities each year with its Education Scholarship and Safety Memorial Scholarship. The deadline for these scholarships are May 15, 2012, and January 12, 2012, respectively.
